Ward has been dubbed ‘the new Kevin’ after being compared with his club captain, who also played for the Rhinos while studying for his A-levels, and Sinfield expects him to deliver.
‘It’s probably made for him,’ he said. ‘As an 18-year-old, you don’t have any fear. He’s full of enthusiasm and he’s got plenty of class about him.
‘To be given an opportunity like that at 18 years of age is unbelievable but I think he’ll relish it. I think you’ll probably see his best game this year.’

Ward, who has partnered Sinfield at half-back in the recent absence of Rob Burrow, has a long way to go to match the achievements of Leeds’ most successful captain of all time.
Yet Sinfield, 31, does not feel the comparisons are misplaced and backed Ward to be a star of the future.
He said: ‘I think over the next few years he’s going to turn out to be a star of our competition – I have no doubt about that – and to play a part in his early development has been fantastic.’

"He's a good lad and he's going to be a star," said Sinfield . "I find it quite humbling to be compared to him."
"What Stevie's done this year is terrific, studying and doing so well in his A-levels and still managing to play so many first-team games for the Rhinos," Sinfield added.
"He's going to be a great asset to the Leeds club and to rugby league in general."

But Stevie Ward is intent on making his own name despite being nicknamed Kev throughout his development.
The 18-year-old lines up at loose-forward — where Sinfield used to play before moving to stand-off — and there is even a slight physical likeness.
However, Ward is thankful the tag has not stuck since his elevation to the first team. He said: “I’m called Wardy now.
“But all the academy lads have always called me Kev and when I first started with the first team, someone would shout Kev and I’d be turning round!
“Hopefully that nickname’s on the way out. I’m Wardy — and hopefully it stays that way!”

Ward said: “Kevin Sinfield is unbelievable and on another level. He never stops and even when he is getting hit, he just keeps coming back for more.
“Kevin gives 100 per-cent in everything and I want to adopt his approach.
“I am learning as much as I can and hopefully all the young players can take it on in the future and lead Rhinos to more Grand Finals and Challenge Cup finals.”
